The mist laden gas stream passes through the parallel vane plates and is forced to change direction several times. The mist droplets are separated by the subsequent centrifugal forces and are collected on the vane blades. This coalesced liquid film is then drained through slits or pockets to a liquid sump prior to drainage to the liquid compartment of the vessel.

Fenix® offers efficient and cost-effective amine contactors to oil & gas processing industry. Amine contactor is the process equipment to remove acidic gases like H2S, SO2 and CO2 from sour gas and hydrocarbon streams to make it “sweet” i.e. fit for all downstream processing operation. Usually n-methyl diethanolamine (MDEA) is used as the sweetening agent. Most popular and widely used simulation package AspenPlus helps us designing highly efficient amine contactors.
The sour gas stream enters the bottom of the amine contactor while pre-cooled lean amine is fed from the top for countercurrent extraction of acid gases. Sweet gas comes out from the top of the column. The acid-rich amine solution leaving the bottom of the column is hot due to exothermic chemical reactions for absorbing the acid gases. This acid-rich liquid is led to a surge drum where desorption of hydrocarbon from the amine solution takes place leaving behind acid-containing amine. The acid gases are stripped off from the amine solution in the amine regenerator and the amine so obtained is recycled back to amine contactor after cooling.
Highly efficient Fenix structured packing FXPack is used in the amine contactor column. The allowable ppm (parts per million) level concentration of amine in the sweet gas is the most critical parameter in designing Amine Contactors.
